Haein Kang is a New Media Artist, born and raised in Seoul, Korea, living and working in Seattle since 2014. She holds a BFA in Painting from Hong-Ik University (KR), an MFA in New Genres from San Francisco Art Institute (US), and a Ph.D. in Digital Arts and Experimental Media from the University of Washington (US).
Dr. Kang began her career as an artist in 2002 by winning Construct2, the second annual installation art award hosted by the San Francisco Arts Commission gallery (US). She held a solo exhibition at the Seoul Olympic Museum of Art in 2009 (KR) and received an Honorary Mention at Prix Ars Electronica in 2019 (AT). In addition, She has been presenting her works internationally at various venues, including Southern Exposure Gallery (San Francisco, US), Seoul Museum of Art (Seoul, KR), Richard Levy Gallery (Albuquerque, US), Gallery 4Culture (Seattle, US), ICMC-NYCEMF (New York City, US), IEEE-Game Entertainment and Media (New Haven, US), SIGGRAPH-Asia (Brisbane, AU), ISEA (Gwangju, KR), and CODAME ART+TECH festival (San Francisco, US).
